resolutions

A lot of people say they hate New Year's resolutions and that they're worthless. I really like making them, though. I don't think it's a bad thing to reflect on where your life is going and what you would like to improve about yourself. Also, it is an excellent opportunity for making a list, and I will never pass that up.

I'm trying to make mine reasonable, specific and positive-- no nebulous "get fit" or "stop being a jerk" resolutions. (Also, I will NEVER stop being a jerk.) So here is how I would like to change my life in 2009.
  1. Fill a sketchbook with drawings copied from artists I admire.
  2. Pay off $8,000 of my debt.
  3. Lose 10 kg.
  4. Sew a skirt.
  5. Finish writing Love Puppets 3, 4 and 5.
  6. Get rid of 5 large boxes of stuff.
  7. Save $1,000 for travelling.
Other things I would like to do more this year:
  • Take more photographs
  • Spend more time with my friends
  • Keep my house tidier
Have you made any resolutions?

To stop calling you a jerk.

I love that little statuette. Very cool!
I got rid of 4 boxes of stuff last year. I discovered that they had nothing but scrap and rubbish in them and they'd been sitting there for 2 years. Madness! GET RID OF BOXES!!

I know what you mean! I have several boxes in my lounge room that have been WAITING TO GO TO THE OP-SHOP for six months. Sigh.

My resolutions are basically the series of goals I outlined - exhibition/zine event, car, own place, etc. I like yours! More Love Puppets, yes please :)

Haha, when you write "I will NEVER stop being a jerk" I imagine you screaming it at the same time as you type it up.

YES! I enjoyed reading your resolutions too. I think we are all becoming Real Adults! But in a good way.

Real Adults? Scary. And we're still writing in live journal? Hey, alright! :)

I resolved to work on art and comics more. So far I have not gotten too far, but since i did not set a goal like, "a page a week" or something like that, all I have to do is do more than last year. Last year I did several illustrations and only 7 pages of a mini-comic I never finished. I think I can beat that.

When I wear makeup, I am going to wear blush (I dont wear makeup very often, and when I do I am quite lazy about it) because it makes me look less white and pastey.

I am not going to start any new crafty projects this year unless I finish one first (or at least, I'm going to try to).

I am going to try to bring myself to part with clothes that I never wear in an effort to reduce the size of my wardrobe, and try not to buy any new ones unless I really need it and I can't make itor adapt it.

I am going to try to stick to my budget and manage my finances better so I can reduce some of my debts (off to a bad start on that one!)

To help with those last two, I plan on not carrying my credit card with me.

I am also going to make time to eat lunch when I'm at work, and I'm going to leave on time at least one day a week.
